Arsenal are about to add three players to Mikel Arteta's squad for Nottingham Forest clash

Mikel Arteta could add as many as three players to his squad this weekend. On Saturday afternoon, the Arsenal will host Nottingham Forest at the Emirates Stadium as they look to return to winning ways.

Before the international break, the Gunners lost 1-0 to Liverpool at Anfield. Arsenal had won each of their first two games of the Premier League season before dropping three potentially crucial points in the race for the title even at this early stage of the season.

Meanwhile, West Ham stormed past Nottingham Forest at the City Ground. After a shaky start to the campaign, Evangelos Marinakis sacked Nuno Espirito Santo and brought in Ange Postecoglou.

The north Londoners may fancy their chances, having won three of their last four games against the former Tottenham Hotspur boss. However, the Forest players will be determined to make a great first impression on their new manager.

Fortunately for Arteta, he looks set to add three players to his squad this weekend. Piero Hincapie, who Arsenal signed from Bayer Leverkusen on loan on deadline day, will be hoping to make his debut against the East Midlands outfit.

football.london understands that the Gunners have the option to buy the 23-year-old defender for £45 million next summer. Hincapie is expected to sign a five-year contract at the Emirates Stadium if the deal becomes permanent.

It's understood that the north Londoners were long admirers of the Ecuador international, who had also been previously tracked by Andrea Berta. Shortly after penning a deal with Arsenal, Hincapie reported for international duty, helping his country qualify for the World Cup.

Ecuador held Paraguay to a goalless draw before beating Argentina. Arteta could also welcome back Ben White and Christian Norgaard, who have both been nursing knocks.

White has been absent since he was forced to come off early during the Gunners' 1-0 win over Manchester United on the opening weekend of the new season. The 27-year-old defender missed the following games against Leeds United and Liverpool.

As for Norgaard, he's yet to even feature in a matchday squad for Arsenal this term. The 31-year-old midfielder, who joined the Gunners from Brentford in the summer, made a handful of appearances during pre-season.

He scored his first goal for the club in a 3-2 friendly defeat to Villarreal at the start of August. Norgaard hasn't featured for Arsenal since, missing each of the first three games of the campaign.

Arteta will be expected to provide an update on the trio when he faces the media on Friday. The Spaniard will also likely be quizzed on William Saliba's condition after he was forced to come off in the opening minutes against Liverpool.

Speaking to reporters at Anfield just before the international break, Arteta said: "He twisted his ankle during the warm-up, and he came in and he said he believed that he could carry on and play, but straight away in the first two actions.

"I could see that he couldn't cope, and we had to get him out unfortunately," added the Arsenal boss. "I am (worried) because you cannot play a game of that stature. After you tried (to), that means that there is something wrong."
