In a detailed military briefing on May 11, Lieutenant General Rajiv Ghai, the Director General of Military Operations (DGMO), revealed that India had made efforts to explain the rationale behind its precise strikes on nine terror camps under Operation Sindoor, carried out on May 7. However, Pakistan rejected this outreach, issuing a veiled threat of retaliation, and launched unprovoked attacks, resulting in casualties and damage to Indian civilian and religious sites.

India’s Efforts to Open Dialogue
India’s attempt to open a channel of communication was made after its offensive aimed at eliminating terror camps. Lt Gen Rajiv Ghai shared that India had reached out to its Pakistani counterpart to explain the compulsions behind the strikes targeting terror infrastructure. Despite these efforts, Pakistan responded with a threat of severe retaliation and launched attacks on Indian civilians and religious sites, leading to 16 civilian deaths.

Indian Armed Forces’ Retaliation
In response to the escalation, India ’s Armed Forces launched precision strikes targeting six key Pakistani air bases, including Rafiqui, Murid, Chaklala, Rahim Yar Khan, Sukkur, and Chunia. These targeted strikes were aimed solely at military assets, minimizing collateral damage, according to the Indian government. Satellite imagery provided by Air Marshal AK Bharti confirmed the destruction of terror infrastructure, reinforcing the accuracy of India’s operations. Additionally, India’s counterstrikes resulted in the deaths of 35 to 40 Pakistani soldiers along the Line of Control (LoC), between May 7 and 10. Over 100 terrorists, including high-profile figures, were also reported dead.

Security Measures at Indian Airports
The ongoing tension prompted heightened security around Indian airports, including Udhampur, Pathankot, and Bhuj. These key air bases are of strategic importance, and the Indian military has taken swift action to protect them from potential attacks, ensuring the safety of personnel and infrastructure.

India’s response to Pakistan’s aggression underscores its commitment to national security, with forces on high alert across all strategic fronts. While Pakistan continued to engage in provocative actions, including launching drone strikes, India has remained steadfast, emphasizing that it will continue to defend its territory against any threats. Despite these tensions, the Indian government remains focused on its defense strategy, reiterating that Pakistan’s actions will not deter India from pursuing its security objectives.
