Kalash Installation Materials

How to Install the Navratri Kalash?
1. On the first day of Sharadiya Navratri, after bathing, resolve to fast and worship. Then, place a platform in the north-east corner of the place of worship and spread a yellow cloth on it.
2. After that, place seven types of grains on it. Then install the Kalash on it. Tie a Raksha Sutra on the Kalash and apply a tilak with roli.
3. Next, pour Ganga water into the Kalash and fill it with holy water. Add rice grains, flowers, turmeric, sandalwood, betel nut, a coin, durva (sunflower), etc., and place mango and Ashoka leaves on top. Then, cover the mouth of the Kalash with a lid.
4. Fill the lid with rice grains. Apply a tilak (vermilion powder) or sandalwood paste to a dry coconut and wrap a sacred thread around it. Then, place it on the lid. After that, worship the first deity, Lord Ganesha, Varun Dev, and other deities.
5. Install the Kalash in the following manner: Place soil near it, add barley, and water it. Water the barley for nine days. The barley will sprout and turn green. Green barley symbolizes happiness and prosperity.
6. Light an eternal flame near the Kalash, which should burn until Mahanavami.
