In light of the ongoing water scarcity in rural areas of the Panvel taluka, MLA Prashant Thakur convened an urgent meeting on Thursday at the Panvel Panchayat Samiti with officials from the Maharashtra Jeevan Pradhikaran (MJP), Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC), and the Panchayat Samiti.
During the meeting, MLA Thakur warned the officials that a major agitation would be launched if the water supply was not restored and streamlined soon.In the meeting, MLA Prashant Thakur strongly reprimanded the officials from MJP, MIDC, and the Panchayat Samiti.
He stated in clear terms that if residents in rural areas are not provided with adequate water, a large-scale protest would be organized.
Acknowledging the seriousness of the situation, he announced that a meeting would soon be arranged with the Rural Development Minister to address the issue. He directed the officials to take immediate and effective measures to ensure uninterrupted water supply and instructed them to follow up on the matter closely.
Senior BJP leader Arun Sheth Bhagat, along with members of the Panvel Panchayat Samiti, officials from MJP and MIDC, and several village sarpanches were also present at the meeting.
