McLaren have confirmed back-to-back Formula 1 constructors' titles. And they have achieved that feat in record-equalling fashion, confirming their success with six rounds remaining in the 2025 season – matching the record held by rivals Red Bull.
McLaren have dominated for much of the season and came into the Singapore Grand Prix with a 333-point lead over nearest rivals Mercedes. Simply scoring 13 points was going to be enough to ensure they cannot be caught this year, meaning just getting one driver on the podium would secure the title.
And they got the job done after Oscar Piastri had qualified third, two places ahead of Lando Norris. But it was the Brit who was ahead by the end of the Grand Prix, getting the better of his team-mate with a controversial move which saw the two McLaren cars make contact but, crucially, caused little damage of note to either car.
Norris finished third, one place ahead of Piastri, to score a combined 27 points for McLaren – more than enough to ensure they now cannot be caught by Mercedes. That is despite victory for George Russell who won from pole, while Kimi Antonelli also put in a strong performance to cross the line fifth.
It is the 10th constructors' championship success in F1 history for McLaren, moving the Woking-based outfit into outright second on the all-time list, ahead of Williams on nine. Ferrari remain the most successful team in the World Championship era, having won the title 17 times.
McLaren came into the season as defending champions after beating Ferrari at the final race of the 2024 campaign. That was their first teams' title success since 1999, but they have not had to wait for nearly as long for their latest triumph.

Team principal Andrea Stella, who described that 2024 success as "a great surprise and joy", said his feelings about this season's dominant triumph have been different. The Italian beamed: "This year, we realised relatively soon that the car was very competitive and that we were in condition to win races, so it was more about keeping concentration and focus, and maximising the potential available."
McLaren are in position to threaten the all-time points record, set by Red Bull in 2023 when Max Verstappen powered them to both titles. The Milton Keynes-based squad managed 860 points that year, but Stella insists they are not paying too much attention to that.
He said: "The record that they set as a benchmark is just incredible, remarkable. For us, it is a reference but it is not what we think about. What we think about is one race at a time, like we saw at Monza, things that can not be taken for granted. Red Bull was faster than us in qualifying and in the race. In Zandvoort, we had the DNF on Lando's car. Before we think about the final destination, we have to make sure we maximise at every single stage."
