Emmerdale's Arthur sparks concern after weird comment - as new twist 'rumbled'

One Emmerdale teen has sparked concern amid a disappearing act and a weird comment from a relative on the ITV soap.

Arthur Thomas was last featured in a plot months ago with pal April Windsor, that saw April struggling to spend time with him and their school friends after her time on the streets. The sad stillbirth storyline and her running away from home changed the teen's life forever, and when she returned she and Arthur appeared to be distant.

It comes as Emmerdale fans believed they had worked out the true identity of Dylan's father, theorising it's a show villain. Now, fans wonder if Arthur could be involved in a new storyline with Dylan amid his absence.

Arthur was hinted to have fallen out with close friend April in a scene this week. After them growing up together and being close for years, it seems recent events have taken a toll on their friendship.

Laurel Thomas, Arthur's mother, commented as if Arthur was at home as she mentioned putting his clothes on the line and someone stealing his trousers. This turned out to be Dylan, with April having caught him out the corner of her eye, seeing him hiding in the bushes.

Back to Arthur, and Laurel made a worrying comment to April that left fans concerned. She suggested the pair weren't talking, and urged April to settle their differences and have a chat.

Laurel was heard saying, having mentioned her 'missing son': "Would you mind giving him a call? Because I know he's giving you a bit of space but he does miss you, love ."

April didn't really react while her face did appear to hint they weren't talking. With Arthur "giving April space" it seems a conversation happened where they agreed to spend some time away from each other. If anything it's likely due to her being awkward with him and their pals months earlier, with April sleeping with someone at Arthur's house.

April had suggested she was bored around them all too, as if she'd grown up and they were too young to hang around with. So might this be what led to a divide, and will they make amends?

Given Arthur isn't onscreen and hadn't been for a while it could be that the actor playing him, Alfie Clarke, has taken a break from the soap. With him being a teen himself there's every chance he's taken time out for his studies, like co-star Gabrielle Dowling.

Viewers couldn't hide their concern though, with one posting online: "Has Arthur secretly emigrated to Australia?" as another said: "Why do they keep hinting at tension between Arthur and April?" A third fan said: "Arthur definitely needs to be brought back - with a decent storyline!."

Some fans believe that it's leading to a new storyline for Arthur when he returns. They guessed: "If anything, they might put Dylan and Arthur together, thus giving him something to do once more." So could a romance be on the cards for Dylan and Arthur, and could it lead to a triangle with April?
