Rylan Clark makes cheeky dig at Melvin Odoom over his Carol Vorderman crush

Rylan Clark couldn't resist making a cheeky dig at Melvin Odoom over his crush on Carol Vorderman.

Melvin, 45, famously revealed he had the hots for former Countdown star Carol, 64, while he appeared on last year's I'm A Celebrity, and Rylan had to tease him about it.

Radio DJ and presenter Melvin had been interviewing This Morning star Rylan, 36, on his return to risque show Dating Naked for Good Morning Britain when the former X Factor star turned the tables on the saucy chat.

Rylan asked Melvin: "If I do a celeb one, would you come on?" and Melvin joked: "Do you really wanna see the guarded banana?"

The TV star confidently replied: "Yes! I've been ready for years, especially if I get Carol in there," to which Melvin giggled and replied: "You can say less if Carol's in there."

At the end of the interview, Rylan and Melvin jokingly sealed the deal as he said: "I'll see you on the island next year!" and Melvin laughed as he said: "Done!"

Rylan also insisted that the success of his dating series, which sees a group of singletons spend time on an island without any clothes whatsoever, is down to the fact that 'none of it is sexualised' and that means the contestants are just free to get to know each other regardless of body type.

"If you're standing in front of a load of naked people, are you telling me you're not gonna look? But you give it five minutes and it's like, and what...? But none of it is sexualised and that's what the best thing about it is. That's the whole point of the show, the only thing you've got left to do is find out what they are like."

"We had so much great feedback from series one because we didn't put in the same looking girl or some looking guy six times over."

Earlier this year, Melvin finally got to meet his beloved Carol and took to social media to tell his fans. "Dreamed it then real lifed it" he captioned the post and it didn't take long for his fans to rush to the comments to share their support. "The king of manifesting. We need the tea," one wrote.

"The selfies we’ve all been waiting for. Vodderzzz," another quipped. While someone else added: "And the crowd stood up and cheered." And someone else gushed: "Man like Melvin making manifestations happen! I hope you didn't just get a couple of selfies and that you two now can build on a blossoming friendship. Your looking good bruv and VERY happy."

Melvin revealed his admiration for Carol while in the I'm A Celebrity jungle, picking a pillow with the former Countdown host printed on it as his luxury item. Although months have gone by since he publicly stated his love for Carol, Melvin made it clear that she hasn’t brushed him off yet, and that he had a master plan to finally secure a date.

Speaking to the Mirror at the TV Choice Awards, Melvin blasted claims that Carol had “ghosted” him on Instagram. “She didn’t ghost me! I don’t know where this - she just hasn’t read my message yet! There’s this rumour going around that she ghosted me,” he jokingly protested. The DJ then gushed over Carol, and shared that he had complete faith she’d get in touch with him when the time’s right.

“Carol’s a lovely lady. I just want to put that in black and white right now. She is a wonderful lady, she’s hardworking, and she’s busy out here trying to look after people and take care of them," he said.

“She ain’t got time to look at my DMs every five seconds! So when she sees it, I’m sure she’ll read it… when she’s ready.”
