Jenny Han, the creator of The Summer I Turned Pretty, has quashed a major fan theory just hours before the drama's series finale.

Fans have been speculating about thePrime Video show for weeks, as main character Belly (Lola Tung) navigates her love triangle with the Fisher brothers, Conrad (Christopher Briney) and Jeremiah (Gavin Casalegno).

Following the penultimate episode 10, many took to social media to speculate that the drama will not conclude after episode 11.

Instead, fans theorised that the finale will consist of two extra-long episodes, with some even suggesting the streaming giant will release four more instalments.

However, Han appears to have set the record straight with a new Instagram post, reports the Manchester Evening News.#

Ahead of the finale, the 45-year-old author shared a photo from her recent interview with the Los Angeles Times on Instagram.

She thanked the publication for their time, before writing: "Just one more episode to go. Love you all! Fans quickly noticed Han subtly debunking their theories and flocked to the comments section in disbelief.

One wrote: "Did she just say 1 episode left?" While another commented: "1 episode left - better be 2 hrs long!

A third added: "Jenny I hope this episode is at least 3 hours. " And a fourth fan exclaimed: "ONE MORE EPISODE?Double episode drop dream is dead."

Despite their 'dream being dead', viewers are still keen to see how Belly's story will conclude tomorrow.

In her chat with the LA Times, Han opened up about her feelings on the third and final series. She expressed support for Jeremiah, who has been on the receiving end of harsh criticism for weeks.

Audiences were shocked to learn in the season three opener that he had been unfaithful to Belly, and some have yet to forgive his character.

However, the show's creator thinks fans have been "really hard" on the Fisher brother.

She stated: "People were really hard on him but in many ways [his] story is heart-breaking. In his heart of hearts, he knew Belly still loved Conrad and he knew Conrad still loved Belly.

"And he also knew he was always going to keep taking her back no matter what she said. In his mind when he slept with someone else, it was him making an irrevocable break from her because he thought that she was never going to forgive that."

The Summer I Turned Pretty series finale streams on Prime Video this Wednesday (September 17)
