ITV's hit soap Emmerdale returned to screens with a fresh insight into the complicated lives of the beloved villagers, but viewers were left wary as Aaron Dingle (played by Danny Miller) and John Sugden's (Oliver Farnworth) getaway took a fresh twist. With the couple trying to work through their strained relationship, Aaron was stuck looking around the cottage for John, who was out in the woods after abducting Mackenzie Robb (Lawrence Robb).
However, things turned sour after Aaron struck up a friendly conversation with a neighbour who seemed to uncover John's deceit and completely contradicted his claims about the cottage and who owns it. This comes after the paramedic practitioner faked a call and lied that it wasn't possible for them to buy their temporary home and stay on permanently, as it was holiday rental in demand. This prompted fans to share an interesting theory about the locals' future, as one anticipated: " So the nosy neighbour will recognise John, bad news for her."
A second viewer predicted: "The neighbour said she knew an Aaron once, & he was very helpful. I would laugh so hard if John is lying about his identity, and his real name is Aaron, & he's the guy she was talking about. If she recognises him, it's over for him."
"That neighbour better watch out. Don't be a fool like those in the village and lock your doors," said another uncertain fan.
A fourth echoed: "A nosy neighbour, Someone else, John has to bump off. List is getting longer by the second."
Meanwhile another begged: "Aaron please don't fall for John's pathetic lies!!" As one admitted: "And I was thinking Mackenzie was hold up in room. Didn't see that twist."
As Aaron introduced himself to the neighbour, she shared: "I knew an Aaron once, he was a lovely guy, so lovely, so polite. Well, it's lovely seeing the place being occupied again, I thought I'd come over and say hello.

After she questioned if they were buying the property, the mechanic shared that John was in talks with the owner, but they were renting it for now.
"The owner, are you sure about that? She died over a year ago. Granted, I didn't go to the funeral, but I know people who did."
Suspicious about the real owners of the property, Aaron, desperate to get some answers, goes snooping around and breaks into a locked room. However, as he looks at the awards dotted around the bedroom and newspaper clippings, John appears.
He asked: "This is you, isn't it? Your house?" Lying to his husband, John said: "I promise I didn't lie, I got us a cottage but it fell through last minute. Nothing else was available."
Aaron hit back: "We've been here for over a week, why've you not said anything until now?" But as John said, he kept the truth hidden because his mum died in the house, Aaron softened and agreed to stay in the property longer.
