POLL: Should Brits get an extra bank holiday on Monday?

Brits across the country will be turning on their TVs tomorrow in a bid to help the Lionesses roar to victory once more in the Women's Euro 2025 final. Sarina Wiegman's side will face Spain tomorrow in Basel, Switzerland - a re-match of the 2023 World Cup Final in which the Lionesses lost 1-0.

If England manage to retain their title, it will spark dramatic celebrations up and down the country on Sunday night... but Lionesses fans who have work the next morning may need to rein in the festivities a touch. Pressure is mounting on Keir Starmer to grant Brits an extra bank holiday on Monday, July 28, after he previously backed calls for a "proper day of celebration" for the nation when the Lionesses reached the World Cup Final. There was no bank holiday in place in 2022 when the Lionesses lifted the Euros trophy on home turf after beating Germany 2-1 in extra time after Chloe Kelly netted the winning goal.

Starmer was the leader of the opposition at the time when he called for a bank holiday. He tweeted before the game: "It's almost 60 years since England won the World Cup.

"I'm never complacent about anything... but there should be a celebratory bank holiday if the Lionesses bring it home."

After the men's side reached the Euros final last summer, he said: "We should certainly mark the occasion, I don't want to jinx it."

In an apparent U-turn by the Prime Minister, a spokesman said there are currently "no plans" to bring in an extra holiday date after the final.
